Course of the game
The Red Bulls started the second final game with a lot of speed and the first good chances early on, including Tyler Lewington's free shot from the half-high slot (7th). The KAC then got into the game better, resulting in a fast up-and-down game in which the Red Bulls kept much more offensive possession. They created traffic in front of the goal and were dangerous on the rebounds, regularly causing problems for the Klagenfurt defense. The visitors had a few strong moments when Salzburg goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen was on his toes. After a goalless but intense first 20 minutes, the teams went into the break with the home side already having a few good opportunities.
The Red Bulls took the lead in the second half with a record-breaking double strike. Peter Schneider scored in the far corner after a dream pass from Benjamin Nissner (22'), and just 5 seconds later Lucas Thaler scored from the slot, surprising Klagenfurt goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm. Salzburg continued to dominate Klagenfurt's goal area for a few minutes after that, only then did the visitors start to put pressure on the offensive again. But the Red Bulls hardly allowed the visitors to get into the game with an orderly defense and went one better. Philipp Krening got his back to the goal from close range and simply fired home (34') - 3:0. The second period went clearly to the Red Bulls.
In the final period, the KAC fought back against the defeat with a powerful offensive game at the beginning, but after long, hard-fought minutes Tyler Lewington scored relatively alone in the half-high slot (48.). The Red Bulls were now simply unstoppable and even during an almost two-minute 5-on-3 power play, the visitors were unable to score against a goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen, who was in fine form and kept his fifth clean sheet of the ICE season. In the end, the Red Bulls celebrated a clear home win and are now 2-0 up in the series.
