"I'm delighted that I was able to reach such a number"Mario Huber has played 500 league games// PortraitLast Saturday, Mario Huber played his 500th game in the win2day ICE Hockey League, formerly Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, in the away game against the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg in Feldkirch. It is a real milestone when professional players are honored for a certain number of games and an expression of the dedication and perseverance with which the boys stand up for their sport. In yesterday's 3:1 home win against Asiago, it was Mario Huber's 501st game in Austria's top league, which the 27-year-old forward crowned with an empty-net goal. Beforehand, he was honored by manager Helmut Schlögl with the special 500 jersey, which will surely take pride of place in Mario's home.
Mario Huber was born in Innsbruck and also learned the craft of ice hockey at HCI. He made his debut with the Tyroleans in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League as a 17-year-old and went on to play 137 Bundesliga games, interrupted by the 2015/16 season, in which he spent a year in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres.
In 2017, he finally moved to Salzburg, where he still plays today and has increasingly developed into a leading player in recent years. Last season, the father of a son put in the best performance of his career to date with 25 goals and 27 assists.
