Red Bulls pick up a point in FeldkirchDrake Rymsha with first goal of the season// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg lost 3:2 after overtime in an away game against the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg in the win2day ICE Hockey League. After a good but goalless first period for Salzburg, Feldkirch turned up the heat and later took a two-goal lead. The Red Bulls were able to equalize in the final third, but then lost out in overtime. Mario Huber played his 500th league game (club-wide) today, but like his teammates had to settle for a point in the Ländle.

The Red Bulls immediately took control of the game and dominated the first period. They tried to create chances from a controlled defense. Tim Harnisch had one from the half-high slot (12'), Drake Rymsha missed right in front of the good Feldkirch goalkeeper Alex Caffi (15') as did Peter Schneider after a solo shot from the blue line (17'). However, the Vorarlberg team did not pull back and also had two or three good moments when Salzburg goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen was wide awake. The Red Bulls went into the first break without scoring, but with a clear advantage in chances.
In the second period, the home side suddenly played aggressively going forward and turned the momentum in their favor. The Red Bulls were suddenly challenged in defense. Atte Tolvanen fended off many good Feldkirch chances, for example after a 2-on-1 counterattack in the 23rd minute. Thomas Raffl missed a penalty in the 27th minute. The home side then played a dangerous powerplay, later Feldkirch's Joonas Oden failed alone in front of goal (34'). In the final phase, the Red Bulls also made a move towards the opposing goal again, but Feldkirch's top scorer Steven Owre gave the home side the lead shortly before the break with a rebound goal (39'), which Thomas Raffl was also unable to equalize with a final solo effort (40').
The Red Bulls set the tone again in the final period and worked towards the goal, but it was now difficult to create good chances. There was also a lack of luck with a few shots and then Michael Pastujov caught the disc at the blue line and converted his solo to give the Red Bulls a 2:0 lead (48'). But now the Red Bulls had the answer; Drake Rymsha was sent on his way by Philipp Wimmer and scored his first goal of the season for the Red Bulls to tie it up (53'). Just one minute later, Tyler Lewington scored from distance to equalize (54'). An open exchange of blows ensued in the final minutes with chances on both sides, in which the home side came close to scoring the winner in a final strong power play. In overtime, Feldkirch finally capitalized on a 4:3 power play to earn the extra point. Atte Tolvanen had no chance with Guus van Nes' one-timer right at the post. After two wins so far, the Red Bulls lost to Feldkirch for the first time this season, but at least took a point with them.

"We were better in the first period, but didn't score. They were better in the second period and scored a goal. I thought it was good how we came back in the final third after trailing 2-0 and forced extra time. Unfortunately, we didn't make it, but the one point is important. We've scored in five games in a row."
