Playing away against the favored Swedish side in Skellefteå, the Red Bulls put in an ambitious performance and took a 1–0 lead into the break thanks to a goal from Dennis Robertson. Afterward, the Swedes stepped up their game and dominated proceedings; however, the Red Bulls managed to create occasional chances, and Mario Huber—backed by a selfless defensive effort from the entire team—scored to set the final score at 2–4 from Salzburg's perspective. Salzburg thus concludes the regular season with one win and five losses, marking only the second time they have missed the CHL playoffs.

Match Summary
The Red Bulls (missing the recovering Thomas and Michael Raffl, Peter Schneider, and Maximilian Wurzer) came out aggressively right from the start, immediately engaging the Swedes in a fierce battle. Early scoring chances for both sides emerged quickly. Nick Poisson tested Skellefteå goaltender Jani Lampinen with a shot from the right face-off circle (7th minute), and did so again in the 10th minute. Salzburg held their own, remaining alert on defense despite several dangerous Swedish forays. They struck during their first power play when Dennis Robertson hammered the puck into the net from the blue line (13th minute). Afterward, the home team noticeably ramped up the pressure. The Red Bulls got a lucky break while shorthanded when an attacking forward missed a cross-ice pass in front of goaltender David Kickert by mere centimeters (17th minute). Kickert safely gathered a powerful shot from the slot by Jonathan Davidsson (20th minute), preserving the lead heading into the first intermission.
At the start of the second period, Salzburg's defense faced a stern test during two consecutive penalty-kill situations. They held firm, but Hjalmar Nilsén eventually found the equalizer by burying a rebound—connecting with the puck out of mid-air (26th minute). In that same minute, captain Mario Huber nearly restored the lead while alone in front of the net. Instead, the home team took the lead for the first time via a power-play rebound goal from Oskar Vuollet (29th minute). Skellefteå now enjoyed significantly more offensive zone time and scored again off a rebound—this time through Jonathan Davidsson—to make it 3–1 (34th minute). Salzburg only threatened again with a solid shot from the slot by Florian Baltram (38th minute), but they lacked the necessary cutting edge during a late power play to narrow the deficit before the second intermission.
In the final period, the hosts took no chances and dominated the action, even though Salzburg did manage to create opportunities—such as a chance for Nick Poisson from the left face-off circle (44th minute). The Swedes then extended their lead to 4–1 (45th minute) with a well-executed goal from the slot by Oskar Vuollet. The pattern continued: Skellefteå kept up the pressure and created chances, while the Red Bulls launched occasional counter-attacks from their defensive zone. David Kickert put in a stellar performance, shutting the door for the remainder of the game, and Mario Huber managed to score a second goal (55th minute) to set the final score at 2–4—a respectable result with which the Red Bulls bowed out of the CHL against the Swedish champions.
Statement Mario Huber
Statement from Mario Huber
"You can never be satisfied with a loss, but we can take positives from the game. We showed great fighting spirit and played with four lines—that’s something we can build on. Overall, we’ve had good spells in every CHL game and seen that our style of hockey allows us to compete with the top teams. Now we need to execute that for a full 60 minutes, and hopefully, the wins will follow."
