Statement Alan Letang, Head Coach EC Red Bull Salzburg
“We are thrilled to welcome Olivier Galipeau to our defense. Olivier knows how to win championships and is a reliable two-way defenseman who delivers a consistent performance every night. His smooth skating, excellent court vision, and relentless fighting spirit make him an extremely difficult opponent. Olivier’s tireless effort is a perfect fit for our team culture.”
Galipeau is known as a tenacious defenseman who plays consistently, is physically imposing, and can also contribute offensively from the backcourt. With his North American background and previous experience in Europe, the Canadian brings a versatile profile to the Red Bulls’ defense.
Statement Olivier Galipeau
“The Red Bulls have a top-notch organization and aim to win the title every year. That’s what I was looking for. I’m already familiar with the larger ice surface, and I expect a high level of competition in the ICE Hockey League as well. I see myself as a defensive defenseman who can play hard in my own zone. I’m also good with the puck and can quickly move the game forward. I want to win another championship and contribute to the team’s success with my experience and my best performance.”
His career history also demonstrates the Canadian’s qualities. Galipeau won the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship twice and, in 2018, also won the prestigious Memorial Cup with Acadie-Bathurst Titan. That same year, he was awarded the Émile Bouchard Trophy as the QMJHL’s best defenseman and selected to the league’s First All-Star Team.
