Starting position
After three wins in three games in the quarter-final series against Hydro Fehérvár AV19, the starting position has not changed. The Red Bulls once again go into the fourth encounter as favorites and have apparently found the recipe for keeping the offensively strong Hungarians away from their own goal. Nevertheless, their own goals had to be hard-earned - in the last two games, a total of three goals were enough to secure the victories - as the Hungarian defense is also extremely compact and Rasmus Reijola is a top goalie between the sticks.
In terms of play, however, the Red Bulls had clear advantages as the game progressed, which also resulted from an unselfish and cohesive team performance. In Hungary, the Red Bulls must now prepare themselves for another home team that will do everything in its power to extend the series with the threat of the end of the season looming. There was already a good foretaste yesterday in Salzburg, where the game showed its strongest play-off character of the series so far.
Defensive advantage
In the basic round, the Hungarians were one of the best defensive teams in the league, conceding 118 goals in 48 games, the second fewest after Bolzano (113). The Red Bulls were sixth in this ranking with 130 goals conceded. The tide has turned in the quarter-final series. While Salzburg have only conceded two goals so far and goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen has already celebrated two shutouts, Rasmus Reijola has had to make six saves at the other end.
