The Red Bulls put up a great fight against the current second-place team in the PENNY DEL and even briefly raised hopes of overcoming a four-goal deficit. The Red Bulls twice took a two-goal lead, but Ingolstadt managed to close the gap in the crucial moments. In the end, the Red Bulls were pleased with their 4-3 victory against ERC Ingolstadt, even though it wasn't enough to secure a place in the CHL quarterfinals. Brandon Coe, Nash Nienhuis, Travis St. Denis, and Mario Huber scored the goals for Salzburg.

Game Summary
An early goal against them, which was disallowed after a VAR review, and numerous shots on David Kickert's net; the Red Bulls were initially preoccupied with defense. But they soon broke free from the pressure and promptly took the lead. Brandon Coe converted his breakaway from the blue line against Ingolstadt's goalie Nico Pertuch to score his first goal for the Red Bulls (6th minute). Salzburg remained aggressive and troubled the visiting defense. The waves of attack continued, with the visiting goalie making several crucial saves. Ingolstadt still managed to penetrate the offensive zone at intervals and equalized (16th minute); during Austen Keating's goal, a blade came loose on David Kickert's skate, hindering his play. The Red Bulls quickly regained the lead, with Nash Nienhuis scoring just 13 seconds later from the blue line with a low shot to make it 2-1 after a fast-paced first 20 minutes.
The Germans again took control of the second period. And once again, the Red Bulls went on the offensive after this period and created scoring opportunities. However, the game remained evenly matched at a high tempo. The Red Bulls had their best stretch towards the end of the period, but Peter Schneider (35th minute) from the slot and Thomas Raffl (35th minute) couldn't get through. Then, with a penalty called, Travis St. Denis scored after a brilliant cross-ice pass from Brandon Coe to give the Red Bulls a 3-1 lead. That was also the score at the intermission after 40 minutes; but only because David Kickert made two excellent saves against top chances from Daniel Schmölz (33rd minute) and Johannes Krauss (solo effort, 38th minute). After an incredibly intense period, the Red Bulls had a two-goal advantage.
Benjamin Nissner had another chance to score from a wide-open slot (42nd minute), but his shot went just over the bar. This time, the game was end-to-end from the start, although the Red Bulls increasingly pushed forward on offense. Florian Baltram missed a hard cross-ice pass at the right post (49th minute). In the ensuing counter-attack, the visitors narrowed the gap to 2-3 with a goal by Philipp Krauß (50th minute), after David Kickert had just stopped the onrushing Austen Keating. The game remained exciting: In the 52nd minute, the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, and on the power play, Mario Huber extended the lead to 4-2 (54th minute). There were further opportunities during the remaining power play, but Daniel Schmölz's empty-net goal (56th minute) dashed any hopes of a possible overtime. In the end, the Red Bulls were still pleased with the 4-3 victory, which ended the Upper Bavarians' seven-game winning streak.

Statement by Manny Viveiros
"We played really well. We had so many high-quality scoring chances, even in the final period, to maybe force overtime. Ultimately, we were eliminated in two games because we put ourselves at a disadvantage with too many penalties in the first game. But I'm proud of our team; we're heading in the right direction."
