Red Bulls aim to make a full comeback against InnsbruckThree of their last four games have gone to overtime// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueRed Bulls are looking forward to its next home game in the win2day ICE Hockey League, and will face HC TIWAG Innsbruck "Die Haie" tomorrow, Sunday, at the Salzburg Ice Arena (3:00 p.m., CheckerBande Family Day, Sporteurope.tv).
Following yesterday's narrow loss to Olimpija Ljubljana in front of their home crowd, the Red Bulls are looking to immediately return to winning ways and score as many points as possible, having had to work extra shifts against Linz, Vienna, and yesterday in Ljubljana.
Starting Position
Things are moving fast. Tomorrow, the Red Bulls will play their eighth game in 17 days against Innsbruck, meaning they've been in action almost every other day. With yesterday's overtime loss at the league leaders in Ljubljana, the Red Bulls have dropped to sixth place in the standings, although they are only four points behind the top spot (considering the teams' different game numbers). And Salzburg showed that, even with their current intensive schedule, they're on par with the league's best team and could have won the game with a little more luck.
On Sunday, however, it's time to deliver maximum performance again if they want to score points. The Tiroler Haie are currently in eleventh place in the standings, but have recently achieved respectable wins – 3-2 on penalties against Graz and 7-6 in overtime against Ljubljana. They also picked up a point at home yesterday, only losing to Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in overtime (1-2).
Reunion with a former Salzburg player
Along with the return of Steven Owre, the 2023/24 ICE Regular Season MVP with the Pioneers Vorarlberg, to the league – the Canadian played in the Swiss League last season – the most interesting personnel change from Salzburg's perspective is the new coach in Innsbruck. Ryan Kinasewich was one of the league's top forwards from 2010 to 2016 in the then Erste Bank Eishockey Liga with Zagreb, Graz, Dornbirn, and Székesfehérvár, and also made a brief 14-game appearance in Salzburg during the 2012/13 season. After several years as a coach in the ECHL, the 42-year-old Canadian has now returned to Austria as head coach of the Innsbrucker Haie and will face the Red Bulls for the first time in this role.

Statement by Niki Kraus
"It was a bitter loss yesterday in what was, overall, a well-balanced game. We want to win against Innsbruck again at home, but we will definitely not underestimate them given their standings. We need every point and don't want to lose sight of the teams at the top of the table. Therefore, the game against Innsbruck is extremely important for us. We want to get three points; that's the only thing that matters."
