Leon Kolarik nominated for Young Star selectionThe 17-year-old striker has made a strong debut in Salzburg's professional team this season // ICE Young Star-Wahl des MonatsThe “Young Star of the Month” will be chosen for the fourth time this season. Four young players who have shown strong performances in January are up for election. Leon Kolarik is in the running for the Red Bulls after making his debut with the Red Bulls.Fan voting is open until Monday, February 10, at 10:00 pm. In addition, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia will once again cast their votes.
He is one of the youngest players to have made his debut for the Red Bulls in Salzburg's top division. Already equipped with his first professional experience from the preparation tournament at the end of August in Kaufbeuren - at that time he was only 16 years old (!) - Leon Kolarik made his debut in the win2day ICE Hockey League in January 2025 at the age of 17 and also scored his first Bundesliga goal for the Red Bulls on January 28 in Innsbruck with the 6:2 final score. The “grid player” also recorded two assists in the 5:0 home win against the KAC.
Leon Kolarik is by far the youngest player nominated for the Young Star of the Month January. The U20 national team player has also played 30 games with the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the current Alps Hockey League season, scoring 21 points so far.

Procedure of the voting
First, five monthly winners will be determined. Four players per month will be nominated to take part in the voting. Due to only a few match days in September 2024, the first two months were combined into one election. The five monthly winners will then compete for the title of “Young Star of the 2024/25 season” at the start of the playoffs.
The election consists of two components: in addition to the fan voting on the league website, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia also cast their votes. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
