Game report
The return of Leon Kolarik, Vadim Schreiner and Constantin Humer gave the Red Bull Hockey Juniors additional momentum, which was reflected in an active start to the game. However, Jesenice countered with high speed and consistent tackling, resulting in a hard-fought duel right from the start. Both teams created early chances, but the goalkeepers did not allow anything at first. It was a power play by the hosts that brought the first goal of the evening: Martin Bohinc converted a pass from Olli Valtola in the 13th minute to take a 1:0 lead. Jesenice then took control of the game, but the Juniors held strong defensively and prevented further goals until the first break.
Jesenice started the second period with renewed pressure and increased their lead after just three minutes: Olli Valtola scored with a precise shot in the 23rd minute to make it 2:0. The Juniors tried to respond with offensive actions, but inaccurate passes and coordination errors slowed down their efforts. Despite being outnumbered and increasing the pressure, Salzburg were unable to get past goalkeeper Us. Jesenice, on the other hand, remained dangerous thanks to their quick transition play, but were unable to extend their lead for the time being. Despite an intense final phase, the second period remained scoreless.
In the final period, the home side established themselves in the attacking third early on, while the Juniors kept lurking on the counterattack. But in the 48th minute of the game, Jesenice once again broke the deadlock: Jaka Sturm made it 3:0 with a well-placed finish. The Red Bulls did not give up and sought to close the gap. In an overpayment situation, Maximilian Kirchebner finally managed to deflect a shot from Fabian Baumann unstoppably and reduce the deficit to 1:3 (52'). However, Salzburg's hopes of a turnaround were short-lived - as Jesenice responded promptly: Jaka Sturm scored his second goal of the evening just one minute later (53') to make the final score 4:1.
