Starting position
With yesterday's 5:0 home win against the Lahti Pelicans, the Red Bulls have once again set a strong example in the Champions Hockey League with probably their best game of the season so far. Despite a number of absentees, the Salzburg team played with a high level of concentration and physicality against the Finnish runners-up and deserved to win with a cohesive team performance. The Red Bulls also want to bring this performance to the ice in the top game against Fehérvár AV19 and, if possible, extend their current run of four wins.
The Hungarians will also be full of confidence going into their second meeting of the season with the Red Bulls, even though they lost 3-1 in Salzburg in their first encounter at the end of September. The club has played an impressive basic round so far and has only lost once in its last 12 games (against Vienna on November 13). Yesterday, Hydro Fehérvár won 3-2 in Villach against VSV, who have recently regained their strength. As a result, the club remains top of the table, while the Red Bulls (with three games less) remain in fourth place.
The Red Bulls are also excited about the Hungarians' new venue, the Alba Arena, which seats 5,500 spectators. Fehérvár AV19 has been playing its home games there since October 12 and has won four of its five games so far.
