Red Bulls also want to shine at home against Sparta Prague Last home game in the CHL before the playoffs // CHLEC Red Bull Salzburg plays at home against HC Sparta Prague in the Champions Hockey League tomorrow, Tuesday, and wants to put in another strong performance in front of its own fans at the end of the regular season (20:20, ORF Sport+). While the Red Bulls have already booked their CHL play-off ticket, the traditional Czech club is still fighting to reach the round of 16.

The starting position
The Red Bulls are in second place in the table ahead of the final round of the CHL Regular Season (!) and are therefore already guaranteed a place in the play-offs. With four victories, including against the ZSC Lions from Zurich and the Växjö Lakers, and only one defeat, Salzburg have played outstandingly in the European premier league so far and have thus put themselves in a strong starting position for the knockout phase.
Salzburg's opponents tomorrow, on the other hand, are in 17th place and will be looking to force their way into the top 16 in the final round. The experienced Czechs with plenty of NHL and KHL experience in their lines will pull out all the stops to score as many points as possible in Salzburg and will be correspondingly aggressive. Sparta Prague have lost three games against Tappara Tampere, the Sheffield Steelers and the Eisbären Berlin so far, compared to two wins against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and the Pinguins Bremerhaven.
Sparta Prague has won seven out of ten games in the Czech Extraliga, which puts the traditional club in third place in the table. The team is led by Czech-born head coach Pavel Gross, who has been coaching in Germany since 2000 and was once DEL champion with Adler Mannheim. Last season, the 56-year-old took over the coaching sceptre at Sparta Prague and led the team to a CHL starting place.
The Red Bulls' last two encounters with the Czechs were at the Red Bulls Salute 2017 and 2018 in Garmisch-Patenkirchen. Once Prague won 4:3, once Salzburg 3:2, both times with overtime.
