After a balanced first period, the visitors from Bavaria increasingly gained the upper hand. This marks the end of the pre-season for the young Salzburg team and the focus is now on the league opener in the Alps Hockey League. On September 22, the Red Bulls will face S.G. Cortina Hafro in Italy, followed by their first home game against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan on September 24.
Game report
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors started the game strongly. In the 10th minute, Lars Bosecker shot the young Salzburg team into the lead from the blue line. However, Deggendorf remained unimpressed and equalized in the 17th minute through Anton Dusek after a quick counterattack to make it 1:1.
The game remained at eye level in the second period. Both teams fought determinedly for control, with the Juniors repeatedly creating dangerous scoring chances. But it was Deggendorf who took the lead in the 36th minute through Curtis Leinweber. After a slap shot by Kevin Lengle, Leinweber converted the rebound to make it 2:1.
In the final period, the Juniors were unable to prevent Deggendorf from increasing their lead to 3:1 in the 44th minute through Marco Baßler. The visitors defended their lead confidently until the end, but the Red Bulls also showed their fighting quality in this phase. Despite strong moves and scoring chances, Deggendorfer SC ultimately secured the 3:1 away win in Zell am See.
