The starting position
The Swedish champions almost stumbled over the Austrian champions in Salzburg yesterday. The Red Bulls came close to turning the game around after a two-goal comeback, but were narrowly beaten with two-and-a-half minutes remaining.
On Sunday, the Red Bulls will continue the CHL with the next championship duel. SønderjyskE Vojens are seven-time Danish champions and were able to bring the national trophy back to Vojens nine years after their last full success last season. They also qualified for the Champions Hockey League again, having last played in the European premier league in the 2021/22 season. On their return to the big stage, the Danes lost 3-0 at DEL club Straubing yesterday.
The Red Bulls will be looking to register their first points in the CHL against the Danes and are aware that they will have to produce the same performance as yesterday against the Swedes to be successful. At least one player at Vojens should know the Red Bulls well, forward William Pelletier played for the Black Wings Linz from 2020 to 2022.
