Red Bulls start summer trainingInterview with Daniel Petersson and Philipp Krening// Pre Season“Now we have the chance to work with each player individually”June is here, the days are getting longer, but the summer has been rather rainy in Salzburg so far. But while others are still hoping for better weather, the first EC Red Bull Salzburg pros are already back on the ice at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy. “Now we have the chance to work individually with each player,” explains Assistant Coach Daniel Petersson. “Official team training doesn't start until the beginning of August, but more and more players are gradually returning to get a feel for the ice and try out new equipment.” Petersson can explain why they are starting so early: “Due to the Olympic qualification, we lose two weeks in which the team cannot train together. However, as soon as the players are back from the national team, the Champions Hockey League starts. That presents us with a special challenge this year.”
Young talent Philipp Krening was also able to train with the pros along with some of his Red Bull Hockey Juniors teammates. “The break was long enough, and it's nice to be back on the ice,” reports Krening. “We're now training a lot for strength and endurance.” In the interview, he reveals his goals for summer training and why he is currently playing with a Luca Auer stick.
