Course of the game
Cautious start on both sides, in the 5th minute the KAC had the first dangerous situation in front of Atte Tolvanen's goal. The Red Bulls (without Peter Schneider, whose wife is expecting a child in Salzburg) also got into the offensive zone well. However, the KAC were a little more pressing up front and took the lead with a goal from Thomas Hundertpfund on a cross pass directly in front of goal (10th). It continued to go back and forth, with a lot of movement, but for a long time without any compelling chances. Paul Huber had a chance from the half-high slot (16') and Mario Huber hit the bar from an acute angle with Salzburg's best chance on a 3-on-2 counter-attack (18'). After a quick and even 20 minutes, the home side took the 1:0 lead into the first break.
The number of shots increased in the second period. Klagenfurt's Lukas Haudum had a shot from close range (22'), then Drake Rymsha had a chance with a rebound, but the shot was just wide of goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm (23'). A minute later, Paul Huber was unable to break through after a short solo run (24). The Red Bulls improved and now had more of the play, but Atte Tolvanen made the first save against Matt Fraser's top chance, who finished right in front of him with a one-timer (27'). This was followed by Salzburg's first power play with many good shots and rebounds, after which the Red Bulls continued to press but were unable to break through against the tight defense. In between, Atte Tolvanen saved Lukas Haudum's shot on a 2-on-1 counter-attack (35'). The Red Bulls also dominated the final phase, but were still unable to score after 40 minutes.
Salzburg continued. Peter Hochkofler shot from an acute angle (41'). And then the disc was finally in, Thomas Raffl shot from the right face-off circle, the disc bounced off the goalie's skate into the goal (42'). Immediately afterwards, Klagenfurt's Jan Mursak failed to beat Atte Tolvanen after a solo effort (42'). Johannes Bischofberger then scored from half-distance into the corner of the net to restore Klagenfurt's lead (47'). The game became even more intense and the tackles became even tougher. Salzburg put all their eggs in one basket and attacked non-stop. But it was tight in front of the goal and the KAC waited for the counterattack opportunity and even had an overpayment. Just when it looked like the end was near - Atte Tolvanen had long been off the ice - Thomas Raffl extended Ryan Murphy's hard cross-ice pass into the net to send the Red Bulls into overtime with four seconds left in regulation time.
And there the Red Bulls again had the longer breath. In the 67th minute, Nicolai Meyer made the most of his chance and netted from half-distance with a clear shooting lane for a 3:2 overtime win in Klagenfurt. The Red Bulls thus also won the third game of the series, which went into overtime, and now lead the final series 3:2.

Statement by Thomas Raffl
"It was a very close playoff game from start to finish. We took advantage of our special teams in overtime, but it's only one win again and we still have a lot of work to do. Of course, we were lucky to equalize with four seconds to go, but we had our chances throughout the game and we earned them in the end."
