Head coach Antti Aarnio shared his thoughts on the team's journey through the playoffs and emphasized the development and challenges the team had to face: "We lost the first game at home against Budapest, but then won. The games were close, this was a test for us to learn how to score goals. In the final game against Budapest, we then scored 8 goals and took that into the final as well." He also emphasized the importance of mental preparation, which was worked on with Simon Kohl, the mental coach: "The boys have worked out the motto that mentality is their decision. They then showed that in every move."
The U18 academy team started the final series with two home wins (6:1 and 6:2) against the EC-KAC, which gave the team the necessary advantage and confidence for the decisive third game. In this game, the U18 AKA demonstrated their ability to perform under pressure and turn the game in their favor with an overwhelming 10-4 victory, even after initially trailing.
The development of the team over the season into a "big family", as Aarnio describes it, was crucial to their success. "The lads have stuck to the values we set ourselves throughout the season and built on them."
