Course of the game
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors started the game for second place in the Master Round at high speed. The exchange of blows was initially even, with the Juniors increasingly taking control of the game as time passed. With good chances, they put pressure on the Italian goalkeeper Hayden Hawkey, who, however, did not allow a goal with strong saves - despite an overtime opportunity for the Juniors.
In the second period, Juniors goalkeeper Simon Wolf shone with strong saves in the first few minutes of the game. Cortina came out of the dressing room much stronger and put pressure on the home side. For their part, the Juniors countered with strong chances. However, the game remained goalless and went up and down at high speed. In the last few minutes of the game, Cortina managed to gain an advantage, but the Juniors and goalkeeper Wolf did a great job of defusing it.
Both teams fought for every inch in the final period. The initially goalless game became more physical and the tempo remained extremely high, as it had been throughout the game. Cortina managed to put on the first spell of pressure with an early overtime, but the home side blocked the shots and played down the deficit compactly. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors then set the pace in the game. This was followed by overtime opportunities for both teams, but the goalkeepers could not be beaten. In order to secure second place in the Master Round, the Juniors tried to win the game in the last two minutes with their sixth man. However, Cortina took advantage of this and scored through Marco Sanna in the 59th minute to make the final score 1:0.
