Ice hockey is for everyoneRed Bulls encourage children to skate at the Salzburg Ice Action Day// Ice-Action DayAfter last year's great success, the City of Salzburg organized the second Ice Action Day at the Salzburg Ice Arena this year. On February 6 and 7, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools were invited to try out various winter sports and get active. A total of 850 children (!) and their supervisors took the opportunity to pick up an ice hockey stick or try their hand at figure skating or stick sports.
The Red Bulls were also on hand with junior trainers to teach those interested at least the basics of ice skating. "The most important thing is that the children enjoy the exercise," says Toni Walch, coach of the Salzburg U13 team. "If you spur the kids on a little, they're into it straight away. They are curious and want to learn new things if it's fun. It's also about making ice skating popular again in Salzburg and keeping it that way."
And where children are skating, Rob is of course a must. The Red Bulls mascot mingled with the crowd and was an instant star with the kids, as the following pictures (with class 1b from Nonntal secondary school) show.

Fun in the Eisarena Salzburg
Helmut Schlögl, Managing Director Pro of the Red Bulls: "It is important that children have an organized environment in which they can have fun and build friendships. Since we have been represented in Austrian professional ice hockey with EC Red Bull Salzburg, we have also been working intensively with young talent and are delighted with the unbroken influx of the youngest age groups. We see it as our task to inspire children to get moving and to introduce them to the sport of ice hockey in a playful way. Those who later decide to take up competitive sport will find the right environment with us. But the fun of exercise and thus the conscious promotion of a healthy lifestyle is paramount for the next generation."
