Game recap
Captain Thomas Raffl was back in the Red Bulls' line-up and they posed major problems from the outset for the Graz team, who had traveled with three substitutes. Dennis Robertson gave the home side the lead (7th) with a long-range shot that the visitors' goalie Paul Mocher - the 24-year-old with a total of seven Bundesliga games' experience was loaned out from Styrian third-division club UHT Dukes Graz at short notice - was unable to see. Florian Baltram, who was played free in front of goal, then increased the lead to 2:0 (11'). The Red Bulls had a number of further chances, but Graz then had more opportunities to relieve pressure and reduced the deficit to 1:2 through Michael Schiechl in the 18th minute. That was also the score at the break after 20 minutes.
The Red Bulls remained in command in the second half. After minutes of constant pressure, Paul Huber finished off Phillip Sinn's cross-field pass to score Salzburg's third goal (28'). Salzburg continued to play lively and now hardly left the offensive zone at all. Mario Huber (30') and Drake Rymsha (35') in the power play increased the lead to 5:1 before the second break and provided security.
At the start of the final period, Salzburg goalkeeper David Kickert was first called into action when Sascha Bauer scored on his own (43') and was then caught short-handed. Dennis Robertson then restored order with his second goal of the day from the slot (47'). The Red Bulls then scored three more times - Drake Rymsha scored twice more (49th, 60th) and celebrated a hat-trick, with Luca Auer contributing the other goal (50th) - and finally celebrated a resounding victory against the Graz99ers and remain unbeaten against the Styrians this season.
