There are many young talents in Salzburg. Again and again new players come from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy who want to make the leap into the professional team. Most recently, Luca Auer, Paul Huber, Lucas Thaler and Tim Harnisch fought for the places in the fourth line of the Red Bulls. "This is not an easy situation for any of us," says Tim. The competition within the team is great, because each player has the quality to do something for the team and deserves the place. "There is always this internal competition that motivates us and makes us stronger."
With Oliver David, a new head coach has taken over the reins in Salzburg. The focus is now mainly on creative and fast offensive play. "I like it, I think the other guys do too," says Tim. "You can also see that our offense is pretty good. We just can't neglect the defense." The start-up difficulties of the pre-season seem to be overcome in the ICE. Tim also has a good feeling: "Of course it always takes time until everything is in place. But I think that's slowly getting going."
The goal is always to become better
Two championship titles Tim was allowed to celebrate in his time with the Red Bulls. "With these twelve wins in a row, the first title was something very special," he remembers. In the past season, especially the final was much closer. In game 6, the Salzburgers had the chance to win the championship at home. "That was on my birthday." Away it went into a decisive game 7. For the first time in the entire season, the Red Bulls managed to turn a game against the Foxes. One and a half minutes before the end, Nicolai Meyer scored the decisive goal to the championship. "We showed an incredible strength," says Tim.
He wants to build on his performance of the past seasons. His big goal is to grow further into the team and to be allowed to take on a more important role. "The goal is always to become better - as a person and as an ice hockey player."
