The opponent
The spusu Vienna Capitals have changed a lot in the summer. More than half of the players have left the club, such as Rafael Rotter (to Kitzbühel) and Alex Wall (to Villach), or ended their careers like Bernhard Starkbaum and James Sheppard. On the other hand, there are almost a dozen new players.
The most notable addition from Salzburg's point of view is defender Dominique Heinrich, who returned to Vienna in the summer after 16 years with the Red Bulls and is expected to take on a leadership role there. Rok Ticar (from KAC) or Hampus Eriksson (from Feldkirch) could also make their mark on the Vienna game. Another interesting personnel is 28-year-old forward Lukas Kainz, who was once trained in the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy and is currently Vienna's top scorer with three goals and five assists.
On the boards, the Capitals have been relying since this season on the experience of 60-year-old Canadian Marc Habscheid, who only last season accepted a head coaching engagement in Europe for the first time with the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg and is now wielding the coaching scepter in the capital.
