The Austrian ice hockey scene was inextricably linked with his name for many years and in Salzburg, too, he was ultimately the defining face, the character player who could inspire the team with his charisma and athletic play.
Trattnig played a total of 1,424 (!) games as a professional in various leagues and competitions at international level. Among others in the NCAA (149 games), SHL (109 games), Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (768 games, all in Salzburg), 2 Olympic Games and 10 World Championships (Div. I & II). He won six Erste Bank Ice Hockey League titles with the Red Bulls as well as victories in the European Trophy with the then final tournament Red Bulls Salute in Vienna (2012) and the Continental Cup (2010). With the University of Maine he celebrated the NCAA title in 1999 and in his last professional season he made it to the semi-finals of the CHL with the Red Bulls (2019).
Trattnig, who also wore the C on his chest for five years, said of his farewell: "I'm honored. It's a reminder of the good times we had in Salzburg over 14 years. It's just a big part of my life and I'll always remember it fondly. My thanks go to the fans, Red Bull and especially the Red Bull ice hockey family, who made it all possible."
