The Juniors tie the series at 3-3 and force a Game 7!The final game of the playoff quarterfinal series will take place on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:15 p.m. at the Eisarena Salzburg.// JuniorsThe Red Bull Hockey Juniors defeated HC Gherdeina 6-2 in Game 6 of the Alps Hockey League playoff quarterfinals, tying the series at 3-3.

Four goals in the first period and two power-play goals in the second period set the stage; Game 7 will take place on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:15 p.m. at the Eisarena Salzburg.

Game Summary Val Gardena started the game with intensity; Luca Haitzmann was there to make the saves on the first shots, and Stephan Deluca was denied after a strong pass (3rd minute). Then the Juniors struck with clinical precision: Adrian Gesson won the puck in the offensive zone, Luca Kogler scored to make it 0-1 (4th), Maximilian Wurzer extended the lead to 0-2 (5th) after a build-up pass from Moussa Hackert, and Maximilian Kirchebner converted Adrian Gesson’s rebound to make it 0-3 (7th). After the home team called a timeout, the game became more even; Deluca had a chance to cut the lead (13th minute), but once again found Haitzmann standing in his way. Paul Schuster deflected Maximilian Wurzer’s shot to make it 0-4 (16th minute), and Vlastimil Dostalek scored on a quick transition to make it 1-4 (20th minute).

In the second period, Gröden came out of the locker room with more energy, but saw their momentum halted by a penalty; the Juniors capitalized on the power play when Nick Maul scored off a pass from Luca Auer to make it 1–5 (23rd minute). A 5-minute penalty combined with a game misconduct penalty against Val Gardena and a counter-penalty against the Juniors initially resulted in a 4-on-4 situation; thereafter, the Salzburg team had a three-minute power play during which Luca Auer deflected Jakob Schnabl’s shot to make it 1-6 (30th minute). The period was subsequently marked by further penalties and numerous interruptions; with their clear lead, the Juniors controlled the game and did not allow any further goals.

The Juniors started the final period with a remaining power play and briefly had a two-man advantage; Philipp Wimmer hit the post during that stretch (42nd minute). Val Gardena capitalized on a shorthanded counterattack, with Dmitry Vozovik narrowing the score to 2–6 with a deke (43rd minute); Maximilian Kirchebner hit the crossbar with a shot shortly afterward (45th minute). In the remaining minutes, both teams struggled to create clear scoring chances in the slot, and further power-play opportunities for the Juniors also failed to yield a goal. The Red Bulls played out the away win with focus, thereby forcing Game 7.

“In the first 30 minutes, we executed exactly what we had planned. After that, the game got a bit scrappy, but we still managed to secure an important road win. Above all, I’m glad that no one got injured in all those hard-hitting plays. In recent games, we’ve found the necessary efficiency in front of the net and capitalized on our chances much more consistently. That was the deciding factor again today. Now we’re fully focused on Tuesday; we’re looking forward to Game 7.”
