Game summary
The Juniors had to play twice with a man down early on, but kept the dangerous zone consistently closed. In the 5th minute of the game, Luca Auer had a shorthanded chance on a counterattack, but the puck refused to go into the net. During the Juniors' first power play (10th minute), Alexander Schmidt remained in the Zell goal, while Luca Haitzmann was called into action several times at the other end after prolonged periods of pressure. Shortly before the break, Florian Lanzinger (18th minute) and Maxim Eliseev (20th minute) had the best chances, but the score remained 0-0.
In the second period, a quick counterattack decided the early stages: in the 21st minute, after 32 seconds, Kilian Rappold found Tim Coffman in a 2-on-1 situation, who slotted home to make it 1-0. The Juniors survived another shorthanded situation unscathed, but were unable to equalize when they had the man advantage. In the 30th minute, Zell am See added to their lead when Kilian Rappold scored again on a 2-on-1 attack, putting the puck under the crossbar to make it 2-0. The game became more physical, and the Juniors looked for a response, but had to take another penalty shortly before the end of the period.
The final period began with Zell am See enjoying a numerical advantage, after which the derby continued to pick up pace. Philipp Wimmer (44th minute) and Maximilian Wilfan and Paul Reiner (45th minute) made their mark before the Juniors were awarded a four-minute power play. In the 55th minute, Maxim Eliseev took advantage of the power play after passes from Jesse Juhola and Adrian Gesson to score the 1-2 goal. A four-minute penalty against the Juniors stopped the next attempt, and Tim Coffman converted it to 3-1 in the 57th minute. Luca Kogler failed to convert a breakaway (58th minute), and in the last 19 seconds, the Juniors played with a sixth field player, but the final score remained unchanged. The two teams will face each other again on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 7:15 p.m. to conclude the Master Round at the Eisarena Salzburg.
