Game summary
The opening minutes were characterized by mixed play with many misplaced passes, and there were no clear offensive actions at first. Nick Maul made the first mark (7th minute), and shortly afterwards (9th minute) Luca Haitzmann was called into action for the first time. During the Juniors' first power play (10th minute), Florian Lanzinger converted Jesse Juhola's rebound to make it 1-0. Sisak remained dangerous with quick transitions, but despite Lanzinger hitting the crossbar (17th minute), another power play and a double power play for the Juniors failed to produce another goal, and the score remained 1-0 at the break.
The Juniors started the second period actively, with Nikita Bloch failing to beat Vilim Rosandic in the 22nd minute, while at the other end, Marijus Dumcius hit the crossbar (24th minute). In the 28th minute, Maxim Eliseev set up Jesse Juhola at the blue line, who pulled away and made it 2-0. Shortly thereafter, the Juniors had to defend while shorthanded for the first time and then while double shorthanded. Sisak took advantage of the power play and Dumcius narrowed the gap to 1-2 in the 34th minute. The game became more physical, but the score remained unchanged until the second intermission.
Sisak started the final period with a period of pressure, but Juniors fought back and an open exchange of blows developed. In the 49th minute, Sisak equalized when Ivan Puzic found Danila Larionovs, who slotted home to make it 2-2. Both teams had chances to take the lead, with Nick Maul (52nd) shooting from distance and Karlo Marinkovic hitting the post after a breakaway (54th). In the 58th minute, Jesse Juhola made it 3-2 after a pass from Maxim Eliseev. Sisak pulled their goalkeeper in the final stages, but were unable to equalize. After a short break, the team will face EK Die Zeller Eisbären in an away game in Zell am See on Tuesday.
