Red Bulls Secure Hard-Fought Win Against Vienna CapitalsSalzburg’s Winning Streak Extends to Four Games// Game DayEC Red Bull Salzburg won their home game in the win2day ICE Hockey League against the Vienna Capitals 2–1, marking their fourth consecutive victory—though it was a win that had to be earned the hard way against a well-matched Vienna side.
The Red Bulls got off to a strong start in what soon became a tightly contested match, with Dennis Robertson scoring on a power play. However, the visitors grew more dangerous offensively in the second period, eventually finding an equalizer. In a fiercely fought final frame, Ty Rattie decided the game in favor of the Red Bulls with a brilliant individual effort. The team celebrated their fourth straight win, a result achieved through a combination of hard work and the good fortune that often favors the diligent.

Game Report
After an initial back-and-forth, Dennis Robertson skated through the entire Vienna defense on the power play, giving their goalie Adam Reideborn no chance (4th minute). The Red Bulls, without the recovering Thomas Raffl, Peter Schneider, and Olivier Galipeau, as well as Fredrik Claesson, who only arrived in Salzburg yesterday, thus took an early lead. The visitors then tested Salzburg's goalie David Kickert from distance, but the Red Bulls had the better opportunities. Luca Auer scored on the rebound (7th minute), and Ty Rattie fired from the face-off circle (8th minute). In the 11th minute, Simon Bourque launched a counterattack but was crucially disrupted. A later Vienna breakaway saw Senna Peeters hit the crossbar (15th minute). Vienna remained a nuisance and forced Salzburg to work hard defensively; Kickert made a good save on Shane Gersich's close-range shot (18th minute). In the final two minutes, the Red Bulls relentlessly attacked the Vienna net, with Adam Brooks hitting the post (20th minute). After a balanced first period, the Red Bulls took the lead into the locker room.
The Capitals came out strong after the break and pressed for the equalizer. It wasn't until five minutes in that the home team managed to break free from the pressure and open up the game again. In the 9th minute, the visitors scored what appeared to be the equalizer after a 2-on-1 power play, but the goal was disallowed for offside after a video review. Vienna was now applying heavy pressure, and the Red Bulls only threatened sporadically on the counterattack. David Kickert made a save on Dominic Hackl's hard one-timer from the slot (14th minute), but was powerless to stop Konstantin Komarek's goal while the Red Bulls were shorthanded (37th minute). After 40 minutes, the score was tied at 1–1 against a visiting side that had shown great attacking strength in the second period.
In the third period, the Red Bulls looked fresher again; Nick Poisson narrowly missed the net with a deflection (42nd minute). The game went back and forth until Ty Rattie stepped up, outmaneuvering the Vienna defense—and goaltender Adam Reideborn—with the puck (44th minute). The match continued with intense battling from both sides. During another highly dangerous power play for Vienna (starting in the 51st minute), David Kickert distinguished himself with several key saves, preserving the lead. The same scenario unfolded in the final stages, where the visitors—playing without a goaltender for the last 90 seconds—created a few more tense moments. Ultimately, the Red Bulls held on for a narrow 2–1 victory, marking their fourth consecutive win.
Statement from David Kickert
“It was a battle. It was very physically demanding; the Viennese side played a brutal physical game and kept rotating in our zone. In the end, it was a hard-fought victory. We’re playing a much simpler, more direct style of hockey now—pushing forward—and that’s exactly how we’re meant to play.”
