Game Summary
It took a while for the Red Bulls to truly find their rhythm. Early on, the visitors—who were far from playing a purely defensive game—tested Salzburg goaltender Atte Tolvanen several times. Salzburg gradually increased the pressure, spending significant time in the offensive zone. Dennis Robertson eventually opened the scoring; his shot deflected off the skate of a Feldkirch defender, leaving goaltender Leon Sommer with no chance to make the save (13th minute). The Vorarlberg side responded by stepping up their intensity, creating several chances—notably a shot from a tight angle by Ben Summer (32nd minute) and an effort from Noah Serdachny that struck the post (18th minute). The final moments of the period belonged to the Red Bulls, with Wyatt Kalynuk testing the keeper from mid-range (20th minute). After 20 minutes, the hosts held a 1–0 lead.
Michael Raffl kicked off the second period by firing a powerful shot from the left face-off circle to extend the lead to 2–0 (21st minute). During the ensuing power play, Blake Murray scored from close range, tucking the puck into the near corner to bring the visitors back into the game (23rd minute). That momentum was short-lived, however; less than a minute later, Ty Rattie used a clever deke to leave the goaltender stranded, netting his first goal for Salzburg (24th minute). Luca Auer then added to the tally, catching the goalie off guard with a shot from a sharp angle (26th minute). The Red Bulls began to dominate, generating numerous opportunities against the visitors' compact defensive structure—including a one-timer by Wyatt Kalynuk from right in front of the net (32nd minute). Feldkirch remained a threat, however, creating chances through breakaways; Atte Tolvanen notably came up with a save against a charging Niklas Wetzl (37th minute). After 40 minutes, the hosts held a well-deserved 4–1 lead.
Following an evenly matched start to the final period, Jayden Lee signaled the Red Bulls' intent by hammering a shot off the crossbar from the blue line (44th minute). Shortly after, Alexander Rebernig surged forward and fired a powerful long-range blast to score his first professional goal (47th minute). With a 5-1 lead and continuing to play with great flair, Salzburg conceded a second goal in the 53rd minute while shorthanded—facing six Feldkirch skaters (!) on the ice. Mario Huber added an empty-net goal (57th minute), and Lukas Hörl—finishing a brilliant pass from Michael Raffl (60th minute)—rounded off a stellar evening for Salzburg, sealing a 7-2 home victory that was well-deserved in both performance and margin.
Statement from Teemu Levijoki
"It’s not just me—the entire team is very happy with how the week has gone. To secure the maximum number of points following a coaching change, and across three games no less, is a great result. Heading into the match against the Pioneers, we knew we’d be facing a well-prepared side, so we focused on staying patient. Scoring seven goals also shows that we did a great job of converting our chances."
