Red Bulls Win 4–2 in InnsbruckWell-deserved three points for a Salzburg side that dominated for stretches// Game DayEC Red Bull Salzburg secured a 4–2 away victory against HC TIWAG Innsbruck "Die Haie" in the win2day ICE Hockey League. While the hosts made for a tense finish, Salzburg were the deserved winners.
Following a 2–2 scoreline after the first period—a frame in which the Red Bulls already dictated play—Salzburg stepped up their intensity in the second, taking the lead but failing to extend it further. In the final period, things became precarious for Salzburg as the Innsbruck "Sharks" mounted a spirited comeback attempt. Ultimately, however, the Red Bulls earned a well-deserved three points, with goals coming from Benjamin Nissner, Mathias Böhm, Nick Poisson, and Michael Raffl. It was also a special milestone for Peter Hochkofler, who played his 600th league game—all for Salzburg.

Match Summary
The Red Bulls entered the game in Innsbruck without the injured Thomas Raffl, Peter Schneider, and Olivier Galipeau. Following an early penalty kill, Ty Rattie had the Red Bulls' first major opportunity—a 2-on-1 break (3rd minute)—but Innsbruck goaltender Sam Harvey thwarted the chance with a sharp reaction. Shortly after, during a power play, Benjamin Nissner scored from a tight angle to give Salzburg the lead (8th minute). Although the Red Bulls were the more aggressive side offensively, they couldn't prevent Connor Mayer from equalizing with a shot from the blue line—a play complicated by obstructed vision for goaltender Atte Tolvanen (12th minute). Mathias Böhm restored the lead, burying a rebound from right in front of the net (15th minute). The Red Bulls continued to press forward with quality shots, but a deflected goal by Steven Owre—who was left unmarked in front of the Salzburg crease—leveled the score once again just before the intermission (20th minute).
The Red Bulls surged into the second period with great energy, quickly reclaiming the lead. Nick Poisson muscled his way through the slot to make it 3–2 (22nd minute). Salzburg began to dictate the pace, moving the puck fluidly and forcing Sam Harvey to make several saves. Midway through the period, the hosts managed to open up the game briefly, but Salzburg soon regained control, proving more assertive in one-on-one battles. Only Innsbruck’s goaltender prevented the Red Bulls—who were now dominating the run of play—from extending their lead further; after 40 minutes, Salzburg held a 3–2 advantage.
In the final period, the hosts became more active, injecting greater dynamism into the contest. As Innsbruck increased the pressure, Atte Tolvanen suddenly found himself facing a flurry of action. The Red Bulls managed to shift the momentum back in their favor and create dangerous chances, though they also conceded two or three counter-attacks in the process. The final minutes became truly frantic; Innsbruck pressed toward the Salzburg goal, creating significant danger with a series of strong shots—which, in turn, opened up breakaway opportunities for Salzburg. The Red Bulls had to remain extremely vigilant, and on several occasions—most notably in the final minute against six opposing skaters—they also had a bit of luck on their side. With 20 seconds left, Michael Raffl sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, securing another three-point haul in a game that had, at one point, looked precariously uncertain.
Statement from Mario Huber
“I think it was an evenly matched game. Towards the end, Innsbruck really pushed hard—they could well have found an equalizer. But we’re happy to have secured another three points.”
