Eishockey 1x1 Delights About 50 Children in SalzburgWe were accompanied by club legends Daniel Welser and Manuel Latusa from the very first time we tried on our gear all the way to our first steps on the ice.// Eishockey 1x1On October 19, 2026, in Salzburg, about 50 children discovered a new sport: At the “Hockey 1x1” event, they got their first taste of ice hockey and learned about the sport alongside two familiar faces from EC Red Bull Salzburg.
Daniel Welser and Manuel Latusa guided the children through the afternoon, supported by the youth coaches of the Rookie Bulls Salzburg.
The experience began even before they stepped onto the ice. First, the children learned what parts make up a hockey uniform and how to put it on properly. After getting dressed together and receiving their jerseys, it was time to step onto the ice. The focus was on trying things out and having fun moving around. The two club legends and the coaching staff helped the children get their bearings on the unfamiliar surface and gain their first experiences.

This is exactly the kind of easy access that the “Eishockey 1x1” initiative aims to provide. Former and current professional ice hockey players share their passion for the sport and, together with regional clubs, hope to attract new children to ice hockey. Participation is free, and no prior experience is required.
Following the successful afternoon in Salzburg, the initiative will next head to Gmunden and Vöcklabruck. There, too, children will have the opportunity to get acquainted with ice hockey. At the same time, “Eishockey 1x1” supports local clubs in their youth development efforts and helps spread enthusiasm for the sport throughout the region.
