Juniors Earn a Point Against Merano
After two scoreless periods, Massimo Tirone gave the visitors the lead in the final period, and Benedikt Krainer tied the game at 1-1 shortly afterward. Overtime ended scoreless, and Michael Levin secured the extra point for Meran in the shootout.

Game Summary
The match started off with some physical play, but neither team let that throw them off their game. As the first period progressed, the Juniors increasingly took the initiative and earned their first power play, but Meran defended tightly. The visitors also failed to score on their first power play and subsequently tested Mika Haim several times during a period of sustained pressure. The game then opened up with chances on both sides, but the first period ended scoreless.
The Red Bulls started the second period with a lingering power play and were awarded another power play shortly thereafter, but were unable to beat Thomas Couture. The Juniors controlled the play and earned additional power plays, but Meran kept the space in front of his net tight and prevented any dangerous shots. Back at full strength, the South Tyroleans also found their rhythm again and tested Haim several times. Both defensive lines held firm, so the game remained scoreless heading into the intermission after 40 minutes.
Meran came out strong in the final period, before the Juniors found their way back into the game and stepped up the pressure of their own accord. After several shots by Salzburg, the visitors capitalized on a quick counterattack, with Massimo Tirone scoring to make it 0–1 (46'). The Red Bulls responded and tied the game shortly afterward: Benedikt Krainer pushed the puck over the goal line to make it 1–1 (49th minute) following a scramble in front of Couture. After that, the Juniors increasingly took the initiative and sought the lead, but Merano held firm. The score remained 1–1 until the final buzzer, sending the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Red Bulls had to defend while shorthanded, but managed to keep Meran from scoring the decisive goal. The game was ultimately decided in a shootout, where Michael Levin scored the decisive penalty shot and secured the extra point for the visitors.

Statement by Forward Noel Lußnig
“I think the chances were there. We played at least two strong periods, but we didn’t get rewarded for it because the puck just wouldn’t go in. We took enough shots and had the opportunities. Merano was very compact defensively, blocked a lot of shots, and made it tough for us. In a shootout, it’s a 50-50 situation, and today it didn’t go our way.”
