Current Situation
After two winless rounds last weekend, EC Red Bull Salzburg finds itself at the bottom of the win2day ICE Hockey League standings. Although the Red Bulls faced two of the league's strongest teams right out of the gate—Klagenfurt and Bolzano—the high number of goals conceded and the resulting heavy defeats have raised serious concerns, prompting the team to sharpen its focus and training regimen for the challenges ahead.
While the team has often emphasized the need to take every opponent seriously—even when sitting higher in the standings—that sentiment is more relevant than ever now. Innsbruck also lost its first two games, though their home defeats against Milano (1–3) and Vienna (4–5) were much closer affairs. By comparison, the Red Bulls hold a goal difference of 4–13 after their first two matches.
Innsbruck Welcomes Back Star Forward
The Red Bulls have fond memories of recent encounters with the "Tyrolean Sharks." Salzburg has won every one of the last eight meetings—spanning two seasons. However, statistics only tell part of the story. While the Red Bulls are striving for defensive stability, the Sharks are celebrating the return of Steven Owre. The Canadian forward was one of the league's top scorers before an injury forced him to cut his previous season short halfway through the regular schedule. He has yet to score in the first two games, unlike Innsbruck's top scorer from last season, Sebastian Benker; the 34-year-old Swede has already found the net three times.
The roster overhaul—featuring 15 departures and 12 new arrivals—has also brought a change in goal. Sam Harvey, a top-tier, league-proven goaltender who spent the last four seasons with Bolzano, is now between the pipes.
Roster Update
Florian Baltram remains sidelined during his recovery but has already completed his first few sessions on the ice. Michael Raffl (lower-body injury) and Nick Poisson (upper-body injury) are doubtful for tomorrow's game.

"Starting the season with two losses isn't what we had in mind. But it just shows us what we need to keep working on, and we want to put that into practice against Innsbruck. We’ve had our chances in every game, but at times we’ve made it too easy for our opponents to create opportunities. It’s going to be tough against Innsbruck too, but we have faith in our team—now it’s time to deliver that performance on the ice."
