In Bolzano, Salzburg quickly recovered from an early deficit and turned the game in their favor before the first intermission. However, the hosts struck four times in the second period to take a 5–2 lead. The Red Bulls managed to pull back to 3–5, but could not manage more against the hard-hitting South Tyroleans, who sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Salzburg’s goals came from Nick Poisson, Nash Nienhuis, and Wyatt Kalynuk.

In their second league game of the young season, the Red Bulls once again found themselves conceding an early goal. Just two minutes in, Bolzano’s Isaac Ratcliffe found himself one-on-one with Salzburg goaltender David Kickert and clinically found the back of the net. Salzburg quickly settled into the game and provided an immediate response. While shorthanded, Bolzano’s new goaltender Louis Domingue failed to hold onto a hard shot from Benjamin Nissner, allowing Nick Poisson to score the equalizer on the rebound from a tight angle (6th minute). The back-and-forth action continued, with both teams creating chances; tempers also flared as several scuffles broke out. However, Salzburg’s defense tightened up, and they applied increasing pressure in the attacking zone despite the game becoming more physical. The Red Bulls took the lead during their first power play: Mario Huber played a cross-ice pass, and Nash Nienhuis was perfectly positioned at the right post to score (16th minute). The hosts repeatedly tried to disrupt Salzburg’s rhythm with physical play, but the visitors controlled the latter part of the period and held a deserved 2-1 lead at the first intermission.
Thomas Raffl had the first major chance of the second period following a solo run (22nd minute). Shortly thereafter, the Red Bulls found themselves shorthanded, and Bolzano veteran Dustin Gazley leveled the score with a one-timer in front of the net (22nd minute). The game opened up, and the hosts looked extremely dangerous. Brad McClure restored the lead during this spell of pressure, scoring on a rebound amidst heavy traffic in front of the net (29th minute). The Red Bulls then began cycling the puck in the offensive zone; Adrian Gesson hit the crossbar during a 2-on-1 rush set up by Mathias Böhm (33rd minute). However, the South Tyroleans extended their lead to two goals when Turner Elson, left unmarked in the slot, scored on another power play (34th minute)—and they kept the pressure on. Nicolo Remonato received the puck at the blue line and scored with a backhand shot following a solo effort to make it 5–2 (36th minute). After 40 minutes, Salzburg suddenly found themselves trailing by a significant 2–5 margin.
In the final period, the South Tyrolean side initially gave the Red Bulls little room to create dangerous plays in the offensive zone while remaining a threat themselves. In the 49th minute, Wyatt Kalynuk took the initiative during a power play and scored with a screened shot from the blue line, bringing the score to 3–5 from Salzburg's perspective. This gave the Salzburg offense a fresh burst of energy, though Bolzano's goaltender made several fine saves. However, time was running out for Salzburg, and Bolzano played out the final minutes with composure. Turner Elson sealed the 6–3 final score with an empty-net goal; ultimately, despite a strong opening period, the Red Bulls were left clearly on the losing side.

"We started well and capitalized when the opportunity arose. In the second period, Bolzano threw us off our rhythm with a lot of scuffles, and we never really recovered from that. On top of that, there were penalties and minor errors in our system, though we also hit the post twice and created good chances. We certainly showed progress compared to Friday's game against Klagenfurt, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. And we know exactly what we need to work on."
