Salzburg fought on. Mathias Böhm’s solo effort (44th minute) was blocked by Florian Vorauer, but Dennis Robertson’s shot from right in front of the net found the mark (45th). Shortly thereafter, Michael Raffl also scored from the slot (46th), though the goal was disallowed. Momentum had shifted, however; suddenly, the heat was on in front of the Klagenfurt goal—but only briefly. The visitors didn't sit back and scored again. Daniel Obersteiner made it 1–5 on a rebound (50th), and in the same minute, Mattias Göransson scored another with a mid-range shot. Finally, Klagenfurt’s David Waschnig sealed the final score—the team's seventh goal—shortly before the end (58th). After a brief spark of hope in the third period, the Red Bulls suffered a heavy 1–7 defeat against KAC in their domestic league opener.
