Red Bulls Out for Redemption Against BolzanoAlan Letang: "We Need Four Lines, Not Just One"// win2day ICE Hockey LeaguFollowing the worst home opener in club history—a 1–7 loss to Klagenfurt yesterday—the Red Bulls head to Bolzano this Sunday for their first away game of the new win2day ICE Hockey League season against HCB Südtirol Alperia (6:00 PM, Sporteurope.tv).
The task won't be easy against a Bolzano side known for its strength at home, especially given that the South Tyroleans got their season off to a successful start yesterday with a 3–2 home victory over the Vienna Capitals.

The Situation
The Red Bulls suffered a major setback in their league season opener on Friday at the sold-out Salzburg Eisarena. Falling behind early, they struggled to find a way to turn the tide against KAC. They were already trailing 0–4 after 24 minutes, and the final scoreline read 1–7. A disappointed Red Bulls squad was critical of its own performance, struggling to explain the crushing defeat against a KAC side that was in fine form and highly clinical in front of goal.
On Sunday, the Red Bulls have another chance to rediscover their game and prove that yesterday’s match was merely an unfortunate slip-up.
Statement from Alan Letang
"It was frustrating yesterday to see the team—which has trained and played so hard over the last few months—perform that way. That wasn't the team I’ve known in recent weeks. It comes down to how we present ourselves as a group. We need four lines firing, not just one. We need seven defensemen playing with determination. Our forecheck wasn't aggressive enough, and there was too little movement in the offensive zone. Hopefully, we can put that game behind us quickly, but also learn a lot from it for the next match against Bolzano, where we need to put in a much stronger performance."
A Revamped Team with a New Coach
Much like the Red Bulls, the South Tyrolean side has undergone a major roster overhaul. Bolzano has changed more than half of its squad; 15 players left the club, and 13 new ones were brought in. The team is led by new head coach Antti Karhula. The 50-year-old Finn already has six years of league experience from his time with Székesfehérvár and Ljubljana; he moved to Bolzano this summer from EC Bad Nauheim (DEL2), returning to the win2day ICE Hockey League.
Statistically speaking, at least, the Red Bulls hold an advantage heading into their first meeting of the season with the South Tyroleans; The last four games in Bolzano ended in a Salzburg victory, albeit always by a one-goal margin and—on two occasions—requiring overtime or a shootout.
