Comeback Ali Wukovits
Last July, Ali Wukovits underwent hip surgery and made his comeback on January 25th in the away game in Klagenfurt. It was, of course, also the first competitive game of the season for the 29-year-old forward, who spent six months and 15 days in rehabilitation to return to competitive play. Wukovits, who is in his fifth season with the Red Bulls, has now played three games in the win2day ICE Hockey League and is almost back to his old self, even though some routines – as he told us in the interview – still need to be relearned.
Interview with Ali Wukovits after his comeback
“After such a long time in rehab, it was twice as nice to be back on the ice. To be able to enjoy playing with the guys on the bench. I’m slowly getting more ice time again, but there are still many things that take time. I’m still relatively in the preseason. But I’m taking it step by step and want to help the team wherever I can.” The forward, who now has a lot of experience, offers a brief outlook on the season: “A lot of teams had a great regular season. We want to win each of our last four games to give ourselves the best chance of securing a direct CHL berth. At the same time, our primary goal is to continue improving our game and prepare ourselves as best as possible for the playoffs.”

Wukovits came to Salzburg from the Vienna Capitals in 2021 and has won all four championships with the Red Bulls in the past four seasons. Last season, he was plagued by injuries and only played 20 games in the regular season, but then played the full playoff series. The Vienna native has played 193 games for the Red Bulls so far, scoring 25 goals and adding 63 assists.
