Raised and trained with the Vienna Capitals, David Kickert embarked on his journey in 2017, gaining experience in Villach, Linz, and Augsburg before returning to his hometown club in Vienna for another season in 2021/22 and subsequently moving to Salzburg. Competing for the starting goalie position with Atte Tolvanen, the Korneuburg native has matured and is currently impressing with a save percentage of 93.6%, underscored by two shutouts in recent games. A good time to ask 'Kicks' for an interview, to look back on his beginnings, and to learn interesting things about the current life of the goalie, who has also been a constant presence on the Austrian national team for many years.

"The classic story: As a kid, I was a skater first, but I wasn't very good at ice skating. So at some point, I went in goal, and it worked out. And that's how it's stayed."
