Match report
The game began with both teams playing cautiously, waiting for the other to make a mistake. In the fourth minute, Jesse Juhola intercepted an opponent's pass and coolly shot from the high slot to make it 1-0. The Italians reacted immediately, increasing the pressure on Juniors goalkeeper Valentin Ankirchner, but slowed themselves down with a penalty. Fabian Baumann took advantage of the ensuing power play, converting Moritz Warnecke's pass with a one-timer to make it 2-0 in the 7th minute. Ankirchner made several strong saves at the other end, and another Red Bulls power play initially failed to produce another goal against goalie Rudy Rigoni. In the 16th minute, Marco Magnabosco converted the rebound from a shot by Gregorio Gios to make it 1-2. Despite good chances on both sides, the score remained 2-1 for Salzburg at the first intermission.
In the second period, both teams were evenly matched at first, before Asiago tied the game at 2-2 in the 25th minute with a power play goal by Nicholas Porco. The home team kept up the pressure and took a 3-2 lead in the 30th minute through Fallou Mbow. Filippo Rigoni made it 4-2 in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute, Porco scored a shorthanded goal to make it 5-2. The Red Bulls continued to look for goals but were unable to reduce the deficit before the second intermission.
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors started the final period at a fast pace. After just 28 seconds (41st), Moritz Warnecke scored from a sharp angle to make it 3-5. In the 43rd minute, Jesse Juhola reduced the deficit to 4-5 after a cross from Paul Oberhauser. Asiago remained dangerous with quick transitions, but the Juniors survived another power play and pushed back with full force to equalize. Twelve seconds before the end (60th), captain Adrian Gesson pushed the puck over the line to make it 5-5 after a shot from Florian Lanzinger. In overtime, Steven Bellini finally decided the game in favor of the Italians six seconds before the end (65th).

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“We got off to a good start, but then lost our focus a little. Coming back from a three-goal deficit is a good result. Playing in Asiago isn't easy, it's a long journey and you could see that some of the players' legs weren't working so well today. Nevertheless, the team showed good fighting spirit and we're happy with the one point.”
