Game summary
The Juniors put the South Tyroleans under pressure right from the start, forcing goalie Matthias Rindone to make early saves. In the 5th minute, captain Adrian Gesson converted Paul Schuster's pass to give his team a 1-0 lead. Val Gardena then got into the game better, but Luca Haitzmann remained confident in a one-on-one against Stephan Deluca (8th minute). In the 10th minute, Maximilian Wurzer made it 2-0 from the high slot after good work from Schuster. Shortly before the first break (20th minute), Luca Biondi missed a chance to pull one back for the home side after two dekes, with Haitzmann on hand to make the save.
At the start of the second period, the Juniors initially defended strongly despite being 5-on-3 down. Back to five field players, Salzburg controlled large parts of the game, but in the 27th minute Luke Moncada took advantage of a 2-on-1 situation to make it 2-1. The Juniors responded with periods of pressure and were rewarded shortly before the end of the period: in the 37th minute, Florian Lanzinger scored on a one-timer on the power play to make it 3-1. However, 44 seconds later (38th), Carmine Buono narrowed the gap to 3-2 with a screened shot from the slot.
In the final period, 17-year-old Lukas Greil made it 4-2 in the 42nd minute when he buried Nick Maul's rebound, sealing the deal. Val Gardena pressed hard in the aftermath, with Haitzmann making several strong saves. After penalties on both sides, the game remained intense. In the 57th minute, Hannes Kasslatter brought the South Tyroleans to 3-4. The hosts pulled their goalkeeper in the final phase, but 17 seconds before the end (60th), Jesse Juhola sealed the deal with an empty-net goal.

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“It was a very close game today. We got off to a good start and took advantage of our chances. Val Gardena was very strong. In the end, our goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann made the difference and secured the victory for us with some important saves. In addition, our young players are doing a very good job and scoring important goals. We are naturally delighted to have secured an early playoff spot, which the boys have earned with their performances in recent games.”
