Game report
The game started intensely with chances at both ends. The Broncos made the first impact and took the lead in the 5th minute when Daniel Soraruf found Davide Conci at the far post and his deflection flew unstoppably into the goal. The Juniors immediately sought to equalize, but were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Dominik Groh. Salzburg survived their first power play in a compact manner. As the game progressed, the visitors created more chances, but failed to score during a late power play at the end of the period.
The Juniors started the second period with a man advantage and soon earned another power play. In the 24th minute, Adrian Gesson scored off a rebound from Mathias Böhm to tie the game at 1-1. Shortly thereafter (26th), Lukas Greil narrowly missed the go-ahead goal. After penalties on both sides, the game developed into a fast-paced affair with quick transitions. In the 30th minute, Paul Schuster turned the game around with a goal to make it 2-1 for Salzburg. The Broncos responded with a few minutes of intense pressure and defended a double penalty kill with determination, gaining momentum in the process. In the 38th minute, Bryson Cianfrone finished off a 2-on-1 attack to make it 2-2.
At the start of the final period, the Red Bulls first had to survive a power play. Shortly afterwards, Conci put the Broncos back in the lead in the 44th minute. The Juniors responded with periods of pressure, but repeatedly found their match in Groh, while Valentin Ankirchner made some strong saves at the other end. In the 50th minute, Conci increased the lead to 4-2 on a power play. Salzburg threw everything forward in the final stages, earning a power play and briefly a two-man advantage, with Ankirchner also leaving the ice for an extra field player. Maxim Eliseev took advantage of this after a pass from Gesson to make it 3-4 (60). Despite further offensive actions, however, the equalizer remained elusive.

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“We let the game slip away today. Too many penalties, too many mistakes, and they were able to capitalize on that. We had enough chances to win the game, especially in the second period. However, we got off to a bad start in the final period and they took advantage of that. After that, it's hard to come back.”
