Game report
The Juniors started the game actively. An early power play opened up the first opportunities for the visitors, but the Salzburg defense around goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann defended consistently. At the other end, Lukas Greil took center stage and scored the 1-0 in the 9th minute of his Alps Hockey League debut after a pass from Maximilian Kirchebner. This was followed by intense battles and several penalties on both sides. Shortly before the end of the period, the Juniors took advantage of a power play: Adrian Gesson passed to Maximilian Wurzer, who made it 2-0 in the 18th minute.
In the middle period, both teams played offensively, with the goalies making several strong saves. In the 28th minute, Ritten narrowed the gap when Diego Cuglietta converted his rebound to make it 2-1. The Juniors responded with periods of pressure and power play opportunities, but couldn't find a way past Colin Furlong.
At the start of the final period, Salzburg found themselves shorthanded once again. Ritten seized the opportunity: Jacob Crespi scored on the power play in the 42nd minute to tie the game at 2-2. After that, the game seesawed back and forth with chances on both sides. In the final stages, the Juniors established themselves in the offensive zone, but the puck couldn't find its way over the line. In overtime, Ritten capitalized on a transition situation, and Simon Kostner secured the 3-2 away win in the 64th minute.
