Game report
Due to travel problems experienced by the referees, the game started late, but both teams nevertheless began at a high tempo. The Juniors applied offensive pressure early on and were rewarded in the third minute when Luca Kogler converted Florian Lanzinger's rebound to make it 1-0. Salzburg continued to dominate the game, with Maxim Eliseev failing to beat goalkeeper Antti Karjalainen in the fifth minute. The Red Bulls kept Cortina away from dangerous areas and launched quick counterattacks. In the eighth minute, Lanzinger once again set up Kogler, who hooked the puck past Karjalainen to make it 2-0. A subsequent power play almost resulted in a third goal, but Cortina defended strongly – one of the best penalty kills in the league. Shortly afterwards, Tobias Koller missed the target (12th minute). At the other end, Rosario Tolomelli ran alone towards Luca Haitzmann, who saved in a one-on-one situation (14th minute). In the 18th minute, Tolomelli then scored with a precise shot to make it 2-1, but only 17 seconds later (18th minute), Jakob Schnabl restored the previous lead after a combination between Jesse Juhola and Maximilian Wurzer.
The second period started perfectly for Salzburg: 16-year-old Paul Schuster made it 4-1 in the 21st minute after a pass from Mathias Böhm. Another offensive move saw Wurzer hit the outside post in the 23rd minute, before the home team survived a power play unscathed. Back at full strength, the Red Bulls pressed with intense forechecking, but had to defend another shorthanded situation, which they resolved with blocked shots. The game now went back and forth: Benedikt Krainer failed to score in the 32nd minute, shortly after which Andrea De Luca forced Haitzmann into a save. In the 34th minute, Wurzer made it 5-1 with a rebound from Eliseev. Cortina increased their offensive frequency towards the end of the period, but couldn't find a way past Haitzmann.
The pace remained high in the final period. An early power play for the Juniors went unused, and the game continued with intense battles across the entire ice surface. In the 47th minute, Schuster scored again after a pass from captain Adrian Gesson to make it 6-1. The visitors continued to fight, but Salzburg remained determined. In the 52nd minute, Juhola made it 7-1 after good work from Eliseev and Wurzer. Late penalties did not change the clear result; the Juniors confidently played out the home victory.

Forward Luca Kogler
“We played very well today. After a long break, it was important for us to come back strong. We are happy with this result. We had three good days of training and fresh legs, which allowed us to outskate them. We executed our plan today and made few mistakes.”
