"It's cool when you can turn your hobby into your profession"Youth coach Klaus Romera gives insights into his work// JuniorsHe has been an ice hockey coach since 1995 and since 2004 has been passing on his knowledge to the youth of EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy. This makes Klaus Romera the longest-serving coach of the Salzburg ice hockey club.

He's practically part of the furniture at the Salzburg ice arena. Romera has been a coach with the Red Bulls for over 21 years and also manages the youth shop. In other words, he makes sure that even the youngest players have the right equipment and that nothing hinders their development. This is something the 59-year-old, a native of Mittersill, is particularly passionate about, regardless of the age group. We looked back and forward with him.

From the interview with Klaus Romera

"Working with the youngsters is very appealing. I try to introduce them to ice hockey, to really live and breathe it. This also includes watching games of the professional team and the farm team. The idea behind it is that it's also our job to bring them closer to 'Red Bull Ice Hockey.' That you really live it and don't just exist."

Klaus Romera came to Salzburg from Zell am See in 2004 and coached various age groups in the EC Red Bull Salzburg youth program until 2012. From 2012 until last season, he was responsible for the under-20 and under-18 aspiring professionals at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy. For the current 2025/26 season, Romera has returned to the Salzburg Ice Arena and, together with Jacky Leon and Gregor Kohlhauser, is managing the U13 team.
