Red Bulls vs. Steinbach Black Wings Linz
In the nearly packed Salzburg Ice Arena, the Red Bulls established a two-goal lead in the first period, laying the foundation for a victory that was rarely in doubt from that point onward, despite Linz's opportunities. The Red Bulls maintained their composure and ultimately celebrated their first shutout win of the season, thanks in large part to a strong performance from goaltender David Kickert. Benjamin Nissner, Thomas Raffl, Devante Stephens, and Florian Baltram scored for Salzburg.
Highlights Red Bulls vs. Steinbach Black Wings Linz
Game Summary
The game started with a slow start, characterized by a lot of back-and-forth action in the neutral zone. Salzburg's Benjamin Nissner had the first chance with a good shot from the slot (4th minute), which was stopped by Rasmus Tirronen. Three minutes later, the player celebrating his 500th ICE Hockey League game beat the goalie with a shot into the top corner from a sharp angle to give Salzburg the lead (7th minute). Shortly after, Peter Schneider powered through the Linz defense (8th minute) but was stopped. Thomas Raffl then deflected Benjamin Nissner's shot in front of the net to extend the lead (11th minute). Linz's Graham Knott then rattled the Salzburg goal with a shot that rattled the crossbar (13th minute), and the visitors continued to create pressure by spending a lot of time in the offensive zone. Salzburg's goalie, David Kickert, had to make several good saves, but there were no clear-cut chances. Salzburg's 2-0 lead after 20 minutes was well-deserved.

Linz's scoring chances improved, and the opening minutes of the second period belonged to the visitors. Stefan Gaffal was just stopped at the left post by David Kickert (23rd minute). Gradually, the Red Bulls found their way back into the offensive flow, and the game remained evenly matched for a long stretch. Then, on a Linz power play, the Red Bulls scored again, capitalizing on a poor Linz line change. Devante Stephens, shorthanded, fired a shot from the face-off circle into the top corner (35th minute) to give the home team a 3-0 lead at the intermission.

The final period continued to be a back-and-forth affair. Peter Schneider had a chance to score on a 2-on-1 breakaway (48th minute). After a flawless penalty kill, the home team turned up the heat, creating scoring opportunities with Brandon Coe and Travis St. Denis (51st minute). Linz also kept up the pressure and tried everything, with Tyler Lewington making a goal-line clearance behind David Kickert (55th minute). But the Red Bulls were too determined to let anything slip, and Florian Baltram sealed the 4-0 victory with a goal on a rebound (57th minute). The Red Bulls also celebrated their first shutout win of the season, thanks in part to another strong performance from David Kickert.

Statement by Devante Stephens
"We came out of the locker room with a lot of energy and played a kind of desperate hockey to get back to the top of the standings. We gelled well and played as a team. When we play like that, we're hard to beat, and today was one of those games."
