Red Bulls vs. Hydro Fehérvár AV19
The Red Bulls took control of the game from the outset and barely allowed the Hungarians any room to maneuver. With a goal in each of the first two periods, Salzburg sealed the victory early in the final period with two more goals, ending their recent five-game losing streak (including CHL), even though the visitors managed a consolation goal shortly before the final buzzer. Michael Raffl scored twice, along with his brother Thomas and Florian Baltram.
Highlights Red Bulls vs. Hydro Fehérvár AV19
Game Summary
Lucas Thaler's backhand shot in front of the net (2nd minute) was the Red Bulls' first dangerous attack, and they immediately set a high tempo. The visitors didn't need long to find their rhythm and start attacking, but Salzburg remained the more aggressive team. The game was played primarily in Salzburg's offensive zone, with the Red Bulls generating numerous scoring opportunities; initially, this posed no problem for the visiting goalie, Dominik Horvath. That changed in the 16th minute when Florian Baltram converted Lucas Thaler's short pass into the slot with a one-timer to give Salzburg a well-deserved lead. The home team dominated the opening period with further chances before the intermission, including a rebound opportunity for Peter Schneider after a shot by Thomas Raffl (20th minute). Salzburg's lead after 20 minutes was also well-deserved in terms of overall play.

Early in the second period, Brandon Coe's breakaway attempt was stopped by Dominik Horvath (21st minute). The visitors then began to create more dangerous scoring chances, with Atte Tolvanen making a crucial save on a 3-on-2 counterattack from Joel Messner (26th minute). A long-range shot followed, grazing the crossbar (27th minute). The game then settled down somewhat, but Luca Auer had the next big opportunity for the Red Bulls in the slot (33rd minute). Michael Raffl finally extended the lead, deflecting Nash Nienhuis's shot past the goalie during a power play (37th minute). With that, the Red Bulls regained control of the game. A rebound goal by Brandon Coe just before the second intermission was disallowed after several minutes of video review. Salzburg led 2-0 after 40 minutes.
You can hardly score a goal any faster than that. Following a setup by Travis St. Denis, Michael Raffl pounced on the rebound while falling, scoring his second brace of the season 10 seconds after the restart (41st minute). His brother, Thomas Raffl, added another, extending the lead to 4-0 with a delicate wrist shot from the slot (44th minute). The Hungarians continued to press for their first goal, but Salzburg still had the better chances; Travis St. Denis from close range (50th minute), and Benjamin Nissner in the slot (52nd minute). The Red Bulls then played out the game effectively, although they conceded a consolation goal to Istvan Terbocs (58th minute). This did not detract from the clear and well-deserved 4-1 home victory, however, as Salzburg finally celebrated a win after five consecutive losses.

Statement by Florian Baltram
"We're absolutely thrilled. We're going through a tough time right now and we'd decided that only the next game mattered. We were able to put that into practice today; lots of positives, lots of energy, lots of shots on goal. We also kept it a bit simpler today, which is exactly our style of play."
