It was pure enthusiasm. The eagerly anticipated clash between the Austrian and German champions – a duel between two teams with limited personnel – turned into an intense battle in which Salzburg finally capitalized on their scoring opportunities at the right time and, especially in the final period, were able to rely on their defensive qualities against Berlin's offensive onslaught. In the end, the Red Bulls celebrated a decisive victory with 3,400 fans in the sold-out Salzburg Ice Arena, thus qualifying for the CHL playoff round of 16. | Match report

After the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven and the Berlin Eisbären, ERC Ingolstadt is the third German opponent this CHL season. The team from the "Audi City," which won the regular season of the PENNY DEL last season (after which they lost in the semifinals against Cologne), has also recently demonstrated its international prowess in the CHL. Salzburg's Head Coach Knows the Way to the Saturn Arena
For Manny Viveiros, the Red Bulls' Head Coach, the Round of 16 will see him return to a familiar stomping ground. The 59-year-old Canadian just ended his coaching tenure in Europe nine years ago with ERC Ingolstadt (2014–2016) before returning to the Old Continent this year (after various stints in the WHL and AHL) and taking over the reins at the Red Bulls.
