Red Bulls aim for another win in home game against Pioneers VorarlbergFlorian Baltram: "We have to play our best game"// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg's win2day ICE Hockey League campaign continues tomorrow, Sunday, with a home game against the Pioneers Vorarlberg (3:00 p.m., CheckerBande Family Day, Sporteurope.tv).
The Red Bulls suffered their first loss in the fifth game of the regular season yesterday in Bruneck and are looking to get back on track tomorrow in their home game against the Pioneers, who had their first taste of victory yesterday.
Starting Position
It wasn't the Red Bulls' game yesterday in Bruneck. At least not in the second period, when the Pustertal team really put the pressure on and ultimately won the game with the two goals they scored in that phase. Nevertheless, the will to turn the game around and chances to equalize were there on several occasions, only the South Tyroleans' strong defense prevented them from scoring a point this time.
On Sunday in their home game against the Pioneers Vorarlberg, the Salzburg team – with the same lineup as yesterday, which currently has to compensate for eight injured players – will be looking to score again in front of their home crowd. Against the Vorarlberg team, who yesterday beat the Vienna Capitals 4-2 at home in the fifth game of the regular season, thus securing their first victory. The Red Bulls take this as an additional warning, because the Feldkirch team can also play fearlessly against the defending champions, as demonstrated not least by their 6-1 victory in the final duel of last season.
New Signature on the Coaching Bench
In addition to several changes in the roster – including veteran Alexander Pallestrang, who also played for the Red Bulls for many years, who has retired – a new head coach is also taking over the coaching bench. Johannes Nygård succeeds Dylan Stanley, whom he has already coached as assistant coach for the past two years. At 31, the youngest coach in the league is thus well-versed in his opponents and can prepare his team accordingly.
Oskar Maier, who joined Feldkirch in 2023 after seven years at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy and numerous appearances on the Salzburg professional team, is also well-versed in this. Now in his third season there, he even wears the "A" on his chest. The 23-year-old striker is the only one to have scored twice for the Vorarlberg team.

Statement by Florian Baltram
"We don't really know the partially new Feldkirch team yet, but we definitely shouldn't underestimate them. They got their first win of the season yesterday, and that will definitely give them a boost. We're the favorites, but we have to play our best game and also want to improve our chances compared to yesterday's game in Bruneck."
