Red Bulls kick off the new seasonManny Viveiros: “I'm very happy with the first training session”// Start of trainingEC Red Bull Salzburg kicked off the new 2025/26 season today with its first team training session at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy. Head coach Manny Viveiros immediately put the team through a tough program. Just under two hours of ice training with a short break in between for ice preparation – the first training session with the new team was intense. Twenty-five professionals were present at the start of training and followed the instructions of Manny Viveiros, who took over as head coach in the summer and brought Adam Maglio with him as the new assistant coach. They were flanked by assistant coach Daniel Petersson and goalie coach Markus Kerschbaumer, who have been helping to shape the work of the Salzburg coaching team for several years.
Statement Manny Viveiros
“The first training session was immediately at a high level. There's a reason why the Red Bulls have won the title for the last four years. The guys are ready and have a goal for this year as well. I was very satisfied with the first training session, both with the performance and the quality.”
Interviews Devante Stephens, Thomas Raffl und Manny Viveiros
Michael Raffl, Devante Stephens, Connor Corcoran, and Travis St. Denis, the Red Bulls' new players, were also on the ice, while Ali Wukovits, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation following hip surgery in mid-July, and Vadim Schreiner, who is suffering from a back injury, could only watch from the sidelines. Luca Auer and academy players Maximilian Wurzer and Maximilian Kirchebner were absent due to Austrian Armed Forces commitments.
Mathias Böhm, who joined Salzburg from the Vienna Capitals in the summer, and Florian Lanzinger have already made a good impression. The young players from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy, like Wurzer and Kirchebner, want to earn their place in the Salzburg professional team. Academy players Fabian Baumann and goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann were also on the ice today.

Impressions from the first team practice
A gentle start to ice training
Many years ago, the first team training session after the summer fitness phase was often the first contact with the ice and the new, usually still very stiff skates. Now, however, the Salzburg professionals have been preparing individually on the ice at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy for many years, enabling them to hit the ground running. Nevertheless, the intensity of the first team training session after such a long break is always a challenge, even for seasoned professionals.
First test against Slovakian champions with fan event
After just a few days, on Saturday, August 16, the first test game will take place. The reigning champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League will host the Slovakian champions HC Košice at the Eisarena Salzburg (3:00 p.m.). After the game, the Red Bulls players and coaches look forward to meeting their fans at an autograph session at the Eisarena Salzburg, followed by a cozy get-together at the Two Seasons stadium restaurant.
