Lucas Thaler has developed into a top forwardThe young center and national player has played his best season to date// Team updateSince his debut in the Red Bulls' professional team, the striker has developed from season to season and also impressively underlined his ambitions as a top striker during Salzburg's most recent title win. When Lucas Thaler moved from the Swedish U20 league to Salzburg in spring 2021 at the age of 19, he was seen as having great potential. And indeed, the Villach native developed quickly, playing most of his professional games in the win2day ICE Hockey League the following season in addition to a few AHL appearances and now, three years later, is one of Salzburg's top scorers despite being just 23 years old.

With his hard, unstoppable shot, he is difficult for opposing goalkeepers to read. At the same time, Thaler has worked massively on his physique, enabling him to assert himself better and better in duels. Although he was only able to play 32 games in the basic round of last season due to illness, he set a new personal best with 18 goals and 15 assists (in 45 games including playoffs), the fourth most goals of all Red Bulls. In the CHL, he even scored the most goals of all Salzburg players with 6 goals. Thaler could also play in his third World Championship with the Austrian national team in the near future.
