The Red Bulls extended their lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-0 yesterday with a hard-earned 3-2 away win in Bolzano and are now looking to get back to winning ways in front of their own crowd. After yesterday's toughest game of the entire 2025 playoffs so far, Salzburg are once again bracing themselves for a physical and combative encounter in the third semi-final against the South Tyroleans.

Starting position
The Red Bulls currently hold many aces in their hands to claim a third win in the series against Bolzano and could therefore already have the match puck in their hands. Yesterday's success in Bolzano was an important step, especially from a mental point of view, as the South Tyroleans had a number of top-class opportunities to change the course of the game. But with an incredibly compact defense, the Red Bulls took the edge off them and scored the necessary goals at the right moments.
In their second semi-final appearance in Salzburg, the team from Bolzano will now do everything they can to prevent Salzburg from taking a 3:0 series lead. However, the Red Bulls are now very familiar with Bolzano's style of play and will once again prepare for a physically dominated attack and try to impose their own strong offense on the visitors.
Second home game a good omen
While the Red Bulls have always lost the opening game in all four playoff series with Bolzano (2014 to 2024) in the past - Salzburg have already broken this habit - they have always won the second home game of each series. The Red Bulls have also always come away victorious in all three home games against Bolzano this season.

“Every game is different and writes its own story. We have to get back to basics and focus on the things that got us to the semi-finals. We didn't play well yesterday, partly through our own fault and because Bolzano put a lot of pressure on us. We want to get back into our rhythm and are looking forward to our home game again after yesterday's highly emotional game in Bolzano.”
